Government has set an ambitious target to achieve 175 GW of Renewable Power by 2022 and even plans bigger target than the drawn finish line. Ensuing targets country has seen enthusiastic participation from private players in recent past and has also fuelled in Foreign Investments. Transmission Bottleneck may spur in near future owing to more glaring gap in commissioning capacities of Renewable Plants and laying of Sub-station and Transmission Lines. Honouring PPAs, solar plant have to be ready in 18 months or less whereas CTU network & substation takes more than 3 years. No sooner or later Developers might not be able to start functioning because all ‘bays’ at the nearest substations are already occupied and transmission lines already carrying their full capacity.

Implementation of the green energy corridor project, meant specifically to connect renewable energy plants to the national grid, needs to be speeded up to avoid such catastrophic risk.
